A planting bed along the north side of my
house only gets morning sun. I want to grow
vegetables there. Will that work?
As a rule, less sun means less harvest, but it also means
less heat. So make the most of it and plant cool-season
vegetables such as broccoli, lettuce, and spinach. With
afternoon shade, they will produce longer into the
summer. Heat-loving crops, such as tomatoes and
peppers, may do OK if the bed gets at least 5-6 hours of
sun, but they won’t bear quite as much produce.
